AID FOR WOMEN VITAE CORPS | LIVE-IN VOLUNTEER STAFF
Vitae Corps volunteers are recent female college graduates who volunteer by living and working together in community at Aid for Women’s maternity homes (Heather’s House and Monica’s House) to help provide our residents with safe and nurturing homes. Vitae Corps volunteers are dedicated to Aid for Women’s pro-life mission and play a vital role in affirming and supporting each mother in her decision to choose life — providing her with the emotional, practical and spiritual support she and her baby need while living at our maternity homes. Whether it is helping a resident learn how to use a diaper pail or listening to her, each is so beautiful to me. I love being able to serve and love these women, getting a chance to give them something that they may have never experienced before.
What brought me to Aid for Women is the faith component practiced within our daily routine and having Jesus present in the tabernacle in the chapel. Living in community with these women, we laugh, cry, dance, joke, sing and talk about everything from spirituality to our upbringing and our relationships.
I came to Aid for Women through prayer and discernment of my desire to serve God in His most vulnerable populations. I find most fulfillment in empowering women to see their potential and irrevocable dignity in the eyes of our Heavenly Father.
Being a VC is a unique position. We’re living with the women and children we serve. We’re there for them in all the ups and downs of life. Although challenging, it’s been a blessing to accompany the moms, whether that means watching movies together, going to doctor appointments or watching their babies take their first steps.
